The probation officer is unable to accept payments of any kind.
Please indicate on the check if the payment is for a fine, restitution, or special assessment. Also, include your name and docket number on the check. If you mail your payment and want a receipt returned to you, you must include a self-addressed, stamped envelope with your payment. You are encouraged to obtain receipts for all payments.
NOTE: No interest will be charged if payment in full is made within the first 15 days of judgment. Interest accrues on all restitution and criminal fines greater than $2,500 unless waived by the sentencing judge at the time of sentencing and so noted on the judgment order. The official records of your debts are maintained solely by the Financial Litigation Unit (FLU) of the United States Attorney's Office. Even if the United States Clerk's Office indicates you have paid in full, it is absolutely necessary that you contact FLU, as only the FLU has the final balance which includes interest, penalties, etc. In addition, the United States Attorney's Office has filed a lien in all counties in which you reside and/or own real estate. Those liens will not be released until all your debts (as determined by the FLU) are paid in full. You may contact the Financial Litigation Unit of the United States Attorney's Office at (312) 353-3760.
